5 Pointers on Designing Your Own Tri-Fold Brochures
Design your brochures in the most presentable manner the time and your resources can allow you.
Brochures are meant as a resource, as an invitation, and as guide that would solicit the interest of your readers and clients. Folding them into panels makes for better organization and transition. It leads your reader to follow the flow of your messages and ideas.
Ideas to Remember for you Brochure Design and Layout
1. Decide on the Purpose/s of your Brochure
Deciding whether your brochure will concentrate on providing information, hold a list of products for references or act as a business form or application form is important before proceeding with anything else.
In this manner, you can fully concentrate on what elements should go into your tri fold brochures. You can design what each panel holds, how each should function and so on. Remember that you can device your brochures to become a multi-function print media all in one.
2. Versatility
Its versatility is one of the strengths you should explore and invest on. Remember how you can use the panels to serve another purpose for your brochure. You can reserve a panel that your clients can tear off as a ticket or invitation. It can also acts as a stub they can claim for any freebie, discount or promotion.
Brochures can also be forms clients or readers can fill out and send back to you. So make sure those brochures are pre-paid for their postage.
3. Orientation
The orientation of your brochures decides whether the design will be laid out in a horizontal or vertical manner. You can try using a combination so you can make a number of panels in a vertical orientation while the back cover of the brochure remains horizontal. This is applicable if you meant to use the back cover for mailing.
For everything else, you can experiment and see how the orientation of your brochure affects the reading pace of your audience, if it's practical and not at all too confusing to bear with.
4. Layout
Consider the layout you are going to use for your brochures. Remember that the most important thing is that no detail or information is caught in the creases or folds. So don't place any text along the folding unless you are willing to risk it.
Going back to the layout, remember how the tri-fold opens up like a letter. Choose a layout that would guide your readers to go on reader, keep their interest while maintain the suspense and so. While this may be minor details, it all part of the package you should present your clients.
5. Color
Bright and vivid colors are some of the qualities that make your brochures stand out, whether in the mail or just in a display rack. It brings your design to life, your pictures life-like and your brochure over all presentable.
Remember these pointers when deciding upon the design and layout of your tri-fold brochures. And make sure that you cover all the necessary bases so you can proceed with not only a visually pleasing design, but a communicative and functional one as well.
