The Mistake (Chapter 10)
The following day arrived and as always Giancarlo woke up bright and early for his typical breakfast that never failed to include cappuccino from his coffeemaker along with the cheeses and pastries which were also always present in his first meal of the day. Giancarlo, had slept well and was ready to put in a hard day at work yet in all this was not what held most importance in his mind. As in fact the young lady's diary was all he could really focus on. It making all else seem trivial or even so routine in comparison that it almost did not merit mentioning.
Giancarlo, however for his part decided that he did wish to get back his suitcase yet not for the suitcase itself, for if anything the one he had was not only the same kind as his own but was almost brand new. His concern was getting back the clothes he had taken with him on his trip which though not special in the sense that he could not easily buy them back, were clothes he liked and did not wish to loose even if he really did not need them.
Giancarlo had made up his mind to go down to the airport after work and get back his suitcase though this decision did come after some arguing with himself on the subject. The subject of the suitcase he had found on the other hand was another. As this one he would refrain from returning. It being his fear that if he handed in the suitcase to the airline, then the woman in question would ask about her diary when she got it back and he might be asked of its whereabouts. Giancarlo, so much wanted to read this diary and find out the truth about at least one woman that he did not even wish to risk returning the piece of luggage.
Giancarlo went about his morning routine and in this he found it odd that he was thinking about the lady whose thoughts, he to a certain extent had intruded upon and not in a way which limited itself to what she was doing at that moment; probably some where in Warsaw but what they would be doing if they found themselves with each other. This however not so much in the sense of romantic thoughts, contrary to how his mentality had been before but what Joanna liked eating for breakfast or weather or not she woke up early or late. This including many ideas of his own on how she might be that went deeper than her physical appearance which in all truth did not concern him as much as one might have thought.
Giancarlo, in all truth had never kept a diary or any kind of running account of his daily activities for that matter yet having read this made him see not so much the need to do so but that perhaps the idea was not such a bad one. It giving one a chance to communicate with his or her thoughts and to read them one day when those emotions were far behind in the past. This however was not for the moment, as keeping a diary was but a concept which was but a passing one or at least on that morning as he went through his morning ritual.
Giancarlo however though not fully decided to keep a diary or at least not at that moment had become more conscious of his activities even the simple ones which he had never given much if any thought to. Such as the way he woke up in the morning, always with his mind focused on the business day. This to the point that he did not really pay attention to what he did in the morning yet this day had been his new awakening. As if this diary had made him see that there were so many details to one's actions which in fact composed the whole of one's life.
It being this factor which to Giancarlo made the diary, he had found worth reading. As the lady he now knew as Joanna wrote with so much detail about the things she did that it gave the sensation that one was right along there with her, not only seeing what she did but in a way; in her mind as she did them. This providing Giancarlo the sensation that he had known Joanna for many years though he in fact knew close to nothing about her.
Giancarlo got through breakfast and got dressed in the same sort of clothes he usually wore to work which to him meant a light pair of pants with a shirt. On this particular morning, given the heat of the summer Giancarlo deciding to wear white pants with a slightly dark blue shirt which in fact went well with his dark brown shoes. There was something about choosing what to wear every morning which to Giancarlo was special yet he had never placed much attention on how important this was to him. It being to the point that he would try to coordinate not only the color of his wears but which chain he placed on his neck to go along with a given shirt. Giancarlo, in reality was a man who took a lot of pride in more than just wishing to be presentable but to a certain extent even noticeable to others for his sense of style yet up and till that morning; this was something which he had never thought of as out of the ordinary.
Giancarlo was ready to leave his apartment that morning at about 10 and yet as he left, he in a way felt that he was stealing a woman's not only clothes but ideas. All of which passing by his mind that perhaps he should give back the suitcase and all its content but this was but a passing thought for he would read the diary. After which in all probability he would give back the suitcase though he figured there would be no need for this given that the person who had lost it more than likely had traveler's insure.
Giancarlo as always did not bother to take his Italian sports car to work, since he would be forced to pay parking for it which in Warsaw was not all that cheap nor was it so easy to find near his restaurant. Giancarlo in fact taking the subway to work as was his everyday habit.

Carry on/Suitcase Question?
I'm a bit worried about my suitcase getting lost, so my question is that if I can just bring my suitcase as my carry on? I am also bringing my purse.
I'm flying on Jet Blue.
Go to their website and check their requirements for a carry on sizes. If it is too big it will have to be checked. I put all my valuables and necessary items like medications, a change of clothing, important papers, etc. in my carry on bag. I put 3 different pieces of identification in each suitcase, one in the little slot on outside of the suitcases, in in the inner "lid" of the suitcase, and another one stapled to the lining. That way they can always find my name and ID and know where to send the suitcase. One of those pieces of ID's is my flight plan with all the information about what my final destination is.
You can always carry a jacket or raincoat, an umbrella, hat if you are taking those, and also put a few items in the pockets of the jacket, such as cell phone, IPOD, mints, Kleenex, paperback book, etc to save space in your carry on bag.
