Portfolio Bags

The executive bag is one of the most essential parts of a man's fashion statement and status symbol. What makes it even more important is the grace it adds to a man's personality and body language. Choosing a right kind of executive or portfolio bag is as critical as selecting a particular dress code. A perfectly suitable bag can give an extra charm to your personality and if you are a professional it's the best items of apparel. While purchasing a portfolio bag, a man's priorities are totally different from their female counterparts. While ladies bags are often full of Frivolities and embellishments, Men's bags are more of conventional types along with a monotonic style. If you are planning to buy an executive bag for the first time a portfolio bag will be a better option for you. In a portfolio bag you can carry anything from laptop to bulk of office papers.

For professionals, the first and foremost thing that needs to be considered before buying a portfolio bag is that if it is right kind of bag for the job you are into. The bag should match-up with your outfits as when you walk along with it works in tandem with your dress code and makes it even more impressive. A portfolio bag's fitting into your dress code is as critical as your matching of your shoes with overall outfit.

If you need to be extra bit of formal at your workplace, a canvas or leather bag will be a better choice. On the other hand, if your office has a breath easy kind of dress code, than a small curvy bag is a good option. Slouchy bags with little structure, for example, are suitable only for offices with a very relaxed dress code. Be it formal or be it a bit casual, the portfolio bag should accommodate all the things that you need to carry to office. For those who hardly need anything else besides a laptop, a small fitted case it all they need. While if your job requires a number of tools (like an architect), a medium size bag with a open top is a better option for you.

The last but not the least thing that needs to be taken care of is the way you carry your portfolio bag. While a tote bag should be hold in hand by straps, a mid-size messenger bag should be carried on one shoulder crossing to the other side of the body.

Where can I get a actual portfolio?

I have a interview in 5 days and asked me to take my portfolio with me I know people have things like briefcases and put there work in there. Where can I find these portfolios and if anyone knows a article or page that can explain in detail what should go in it exactly and in what order.

Any major art supply store will carry them. They are not so rare is that one person says.

As far as what goes into one, the number one, most important rule is that only the BEST of your best work should go into a portfolio. It shouldn't contain more than a dozen or so pieces, but you should NEVER include a marginal work just to fill up some kind of arbitrary quota of images. Even ONE so-so piece will drag the rest of the portfilion down. Better six outstanding images than a dozen that contain even one bad image in the entire collection.

Jut like a resume, you should customize your portfolio to suit the kind of artwork the interview is looking for. The prettiest or most realistic potrayal of bunnies, puppes and flowers will fall flat if the interview is for some company that works with custom cars or motorcycles. The baddes most extreme muscle bound warrior paintings won't impress someone that want to hire an artist to do pet portraits.

Presentation counts. You don't just want to jamb a bunch of sheets of papers in the case. If you can, mount the drawings on uniform sized matboards or something like that. If you have drawing in various sizes, the collection will be better presented if, when opened, all the mounting boards are of uniform size, and the color, either all match, or are of a color theme, such as neutrals, or earth tones, etc. However, you don't want the mount colors to distract from the image. (My portfolio pieces are all mounted and heavy black mat board)

It wouldn't hurt to have a few of your pieces printed on letter sized "presentation paper." (not as glossy as photo paper and a bit heavier than copy paper) Stick these in a folder, or trapper keeper folder with a label on the back of each with you contact information. You can ask if you can leave behind this folder for the interviewer to review later.

Good luck.
