I need tips for cleaning my F250 King Ranch leather seats?
I cleaned the seats with only hot water and then conditioned with king ranch brand conditioner. the seats arent as smooth as they were before and the center console lid faded a bit. any other ideas on cleaners or how to restore the console color?
I think King Ranch leathers are a more unfinished leather than some others and so should be treated accordingly, this is also the reason for the colour loss.
You really need to use a good quality leather cleaner and protector (rather than a conditioner) as this will help to inhibit dirt from soaking into the leather (as well as any body oils and staining) Specific leather care products will always leave your leather as it was when it was new. Conditioners tend to leave residues on the surface which will not help the situation.
For fading on these type of leathers you need to use an aniline dye (specific leather dye used during the tanning process) which will soak into the leather and restore the colour. Using Leather Protect after this process will help slow down future fading.
